A 30-man contingent comprising three
management members, seven technical staff, 18 players and two
supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko will leave the shores of this
country for Tanzania on December 8.
Kotoko’s trip is at the invitation of organisers of the East
African country’s 50th independence anniversary. The Porcupine
Warriors will as a result play a combined team of Young Africans
and Simba FC players in a match commemorating the august
occasion.
Kotoko Public and Supporters Relations Manager, Listowell Yesu
Bukarson disclosed this to Kotoko Express on Sunday. He said the
invitation extended to Kotoko speaks volumes of the club’s
pedigree on African continent. “It is an honour done the great
Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club. They respect the image of
our club and we delighted by this development” said Listowell.
Per
the travel schedule, the Porcupines
after their arrival in Tanzania will play a team made up of
Young Africans and Simba players on December 11 and return home
the next day, December 12.
Young Africans and Simba, it should be noted are the two most
glamorous clubs in Tanzania, and this will not be the first time
Kotoko will be engage these teams. It would be recalled that
ahead of the club’s participation in the CAF Champions League in
2006, the Porcupines then led by Coach E. K. Afranie were in the
East African country and thus played matches with these Tanzania
football clubs.
