The Executive Chairman, Dr. K. K Sarpong, has introduced a
novelty game plan that can only come from a smart managerial
brain to the playing team.
Per the new game plan, players have been
tasked to group the remaining matches into five each and collect
a minimum of 11 points from a possible 15 points as a pass mark.
This method, the Executive Chairman says
will not only help the players to focus well in their
preparation and attitude to matches, but will also boost them to
achieve higher targets as this program also comes along with a
lucrative incentive package.
The introduction of the programme was
announced at a meeting between management and the head coach in
Accra
on Sunday according to Listowell Yesu Bukarson, Public and
Supporters Relations Manager.
“The purpose of the meeting was to review
the match against Hearts of Oak and also look at the next match
which also promises to be a tough one. We have to think ahead as
we have always done so that the corporate image of the club will
always be protected on the field as well as off the field”.
At the meeting, the playing body and the
technical team were highly commended for their hard work that
continues to see the club firmly rooted on top of the league.
“The team was made to understand how
content management was with the performance of the players and
that there was more room for improvement for the club.
“One other thing that the Chairman kept
telling the coach was his joy with the display of character of
the players. They kept their cool in the face of frustration and
that was the more reason why their opponents got confused
because they had hoped to use the referees to frustrate them and
move on from there to capitalize on. All these failed
As the year gets to a close, so are the
expectations of the members of Team Kotoko who are hoping to
maintain their top position into the New Year.
“Management is very much aware of the huge
responsibility that the players have as Christmas draws near.
The chairman has therefore told the coaches to communicate to
the players that they would be adequately given Christmas
packages. We only ask of them to keep their form and continue to
do us proud”.
On his part, Coach Maxwell thanked
management for their splendid support of the work of the
technical team.
“I count myself a very lucky person because
I have never lacked anything as a coach at the Kotoko.
Everything I have so far requested for the success of the club
has been provided and I can only be thankful to management for
it. The technical team remains committed to our determination to
put the club on the right footing for the joy of members of the
Kotoko family”.
Coach Maxwell also assured that he was
going to hand down the information on the groupings of the
remaining matches into five to the players and was sure of the
joy and challenge it will bring to the players.
