Patrons to the Kotoko Adako Jachie Training
grounds may have noticed of late of the presence of a new person
who has been busily engaged in the training of the players.
The new person is no one but former
national goalkeeper and now an astute goalkeeping trainer, Joe
Baah.
He has for some days now picked up an
appointment as trainer and he has been partnering with Joe Carr
to take the goalkeepers through their paces in their preparation
for matches.
Confirming his status from the
administrative manager, Ben Nti, he confirmed that “Coach Joe
Baah has been appointed as a goalkeeping coach and he has been
tasked to partner with Joe Carr.
“We have taken this decision to enable the
two take the whole Kotoko team, from the Under 17 through the
Reserves to the Seniors. We want all our goalkeepers to go
through the same philosophy of playing so that their integration
into any of the teams will not be a difficulty”.
Speaking to Kotoko Express, Joe Baah,
expressed his joy at the fact that he has been able to come to
the club that he so much wanted to play for during his playing
days.
“It has been a long journey from my playing
days to now. At the end of it all, I am happy that if I could
not have the chance to play for Kotoko, I am happy that I am now
able to work in a different capacity as a coach. My few days
with the team has told me that the keepers are very good and
that we will have to bring a few techniques to the players and
they will be the best we can have in the country.
“Fortunately, we have a group of players
who are either national team players or have had a brush with
national teams. What we are going to do is to bring them up
again to get back into the national teams. I want to see Soulama
and Amoako back in shape and getting call-ups into their
respective national teams.
“The young keepers should also be so ready
for them to get calls into the junior national teams”.
He says he has so far been getting all the
fullest backing and support from the keepers and the members of
Team Kotoko.
Coach Joe Baah has been a long standing
player for clubs like Great Olympics, Okwawu United, Abuakwa
Susu Biribi and many other clubs.
His coaching career took him to Tema Youth
and recently he was attached the Black Meteors team that won
gold at the All African Games Gold in Maputo, Mozambique.
