Centre back, Awal Mohammed,
has appealed to Kotoko supporters not to lose confidence in him
because of the penalty incident that gave Berekum Arsenal the
chance to draw level in the week five Glo Premier League duel at
the Golden City Park last Sunday.
Kotoko were leading Arsenals 1-0 when the dependable centre back
fouled an opponent in the 18-yard box with three minutes to the
end of the game.
Many Kotoko supporters were therefore disappointed. Some of them
expressed serious concern over the manner in which the team
concedes penalty kicks in matches.
In
an interview with Kotoko Express on Wednesday, Awal Mohammed
conceded the development in Berekum was really unfortunate and
painful, but he
also argued that the fans need not lose confidence in
him.
“They
should have faith in me. What happened at Berekum was bad
because we were winning the game until the penalty came. Our
supporters should continue to support us. We will deliver the
right results no matter the difficulty” said Awal Mohammed.
He received massive support in the
game against Mighty Jets with the Circles and Warriors groups
displaying banners indicating their love and support for him and
the entire team.
