Kotoko Reserve Team goalkeeper, Rashid Seidu was the toast of
spectators at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon
when he pulled a number of breathtaking saves to help his side
register a 2-0 win over their colleagues from Ashantigold.
Strikers Alhassan Bukari and Mumuni Mustapha put Kotoko on the
score sheet in the game that preceded the big clash, the
Kotoko-Ashantigold later in the evening. With a goal being
scored in each half, the young Ashantigold side could have
easily cancelled one of the two-goal deficit early in the second
half and further gone ahead to equalise especially in the dying
minutes of the match but the Kotoko young goalie did well to
keep his team on top.
Seidu’s spectacular saves earned him applause from both the
small crowd and new
coach, Henry Wellington who started work only last week.
“They were signed before I came. They are young. They are very
good but they did not play as a team that is why I have told the
senior team coach that I want to see all the players” said Coach
Henry Wellington who had some nice thoughts on Rashid Seidu. “He
is a very good goalkeeper. If he continues like that, he will be
great. The goalie said he would continue working hard for a
chance in the senior team.
