Irrespective of how prepared Ashantigold will come to the Baba
Yara Sports Stadium for Sunday’s Glo Premier League match away
to Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Coach Maxwell Konadu has promised to
give the Obuasi based team a tough time that would see winning
the three points at stake in the crunch game.
The
Kotoko coach said in an interview on Wednesday that his team was
fully prepared to give Ashantigold difficulties on the field of
play arguing that the Obuasi side should forget about winning
the match.
Sunday’s encounter is Kotoko’s first home match of the new
season. Maxwell Konadu told Kotoko Express that his players have
been training well and thinking of nothing apart from victory.
The coach said he has been impressed with the performance of his
players at the training ground. Coach Maxwell Konadu made these
comments after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against lower division side,
Yegoala FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The
stubborn division one side was first to score but Kotoko
cancelled the lead through striker, Nafiu Idrissu whose work
rate, Coach Maxwell Konadu described as remarkable. “He scored a
beautiful goal. Apart from that he performed well. The
performance of the team has given us another dimension into the
quality we have. We are looking forward to great things in the
season” said the Kotoko technical handler.
Wednesday’s match, it must be put on record, saw a completely
different Kotoko squad on parade. None of the players fielded in
the Tema league match last Sunday was featured and the
performance exhibited by the “new young team” was a source joy
for the Kotoko coach.
