Five players of Asante Kotoko who joined Serbian Superliga side
FK Metalac have started making headways in the European country.
They are Harif Mohammed, Obeng Reagan, Kwame Boateng, Owusu
Ansah Kontoh and Prince Domfeh, spotted when Asante Kotoko
toured Serbia during their pre season campaign.
A pact was reached for the European side to nurture and develop
the talents of the youthful players for the mutual benefit of
Kotoko and Metalac.
Checks by Kotoko Express indicate that the
players are doing well and have been earning rave reviews from
the Serbian media. Obeng Reagan and Harif are doing well with
the junior team of FK Metalac.
The most outstanding so far are Owusu Ansah
Konto and Kwame Boateng who have started making headlines and
their impressive output has earned them promotion to the senior
team of FK Metalac.
Owusu Ansah Kontoh, a talented midfielder
and Kwame Boateng who is a striker were promoted to join the
seniors after Kwame scored three goals whilst featuring for the
Youth side of Metalac.
In that match, the two players churned out
a great performance which made the Metalac coach Zivkovic Zvonko
monitor them closely during the subsequent weeks.
Their performance earned them the
invitation to play alongside the seniors as Gornji Milanovac
sought to reverse their bad start to the league.
Kwame Boateng and Owusu Konto made their league debut on
September 10, 2011, in a round 4 match against FK
Javor Ivanjica, and have since been fighting to stay
in the first squad of the team.
Club president Dusan Drazovic is said to
hold the players in high esteem and has banked his hopes on them
to help the club to a better placing than the 9th
position chalked last season.
The two are expected to be part of the
club’s squad this week against former European Champions Red
Star Belgrade, who also has Ghanaian Lee Addy in the team
