Newly-signed former Winneba based Windy Professionals players,
Eric Donkor and Michael Anaba, have told Kotoko Express that
they have come to Kotoko on a mission and have targeted to do
that within the shortest possible time.
Speaking in separate interviews with this
paper after sweating it out after training at the Baba Yara
Stadium last Saturday, the players who had their second training
session with the team were unanimous in the expression of
contentment and joy for their coming to Kotoko.
Speaking first, the offensive midfielder,
Michael Anaba, described his coming to Kotoko as a giant step in
his career as he looks forward to serving his local time by
using Kotoko as the springboard upon which he would be
catapulted into the International football.
Michael, who was nominated to contest as The
Most Promising Player in the 2011 MTN FA Cup says much as he has
come to Kotoko as a player with his own destiny in his hands, he
has other inspirations to rely on to achieve success at Kotoko.
“Coming to Kotoko comes as a big motivator
for me and I believe having realized that, God will give me the
strength and courage to achieve my set goals. As a former team
mate at Windy Professionals with Samuel Inkoom, his success at
Kotoko gives me so much hope that with determination and a tough
mentality, I will be able to make it big at Kotoko”.
“These successes I know will not come on a
silver platter so I am ready and willing to work hard to achieve
that. I will also count on the heavy presence of Kotoko
supporters at matches and training to catapult myself high up,”
he said.
Many players aspire to Kotoko based on the
many good things they hear concerning the good treatment Kotoko
give to their players and more especially the encouragement and
motivation they get from the fans. Kotoko Express therefore
found out from him if he came with such an expectation and how
far those expectations have been met.
“It is early days yet for me to make a
general conclusion on the fulfillment of the expectations I came
to Kotoko with. However, I can tell you of the high sense of
professionalism I have seen at play in Kotoko. I like the way I
have been received into the team by both club officials and
especially the senior playing colleagues”.
“They make us feel so much at home and
comfortable when we are on the team bus and also when we are on
the pitch training”.
“Management also made sure that we did not
come to encounter any difficulty when we arrive so they rolled
out a red carpet reception for us by ushering us straight into
our accommodation. I am now comfortable and all these can and
shall be reciprocated on the pitch with good performance and
success”.
“The one thing I ask of the teaming
supporters of the club is their prayers for we the players and
for the success of the team,” he concluded.
On his part, lateral defender, Eric Donkor
who is no stranger to Premier league football says he is so far
very happy with what he is experiencing at Kotoko and described
that feeling in a good light.
“This reception and feeling is the perfect
setting for the achievement of success. I played on loan for a
half a season in the 2009/10 season for Hearts and I can say
that the feeling I am having here at Kotoko is very different
and genuine”.
“Besides the fact that training has been
going on smoothly here, I am also comfortable with the club when
am off the pitch because I have been handed a descent
accommodation where I am able to rest my tired body to recover
from the day’s hectic training sessions”.
“I can also report that players of Kotoko
are taken good care of and so we are all poised to reciprocate
by doing well to record good results for the club”.
He says his target as a player is to win
silverwares with Kotoko and that will have to be achieved by
first commanding a regular position in the team.
“Since the unfortunate and sad injury to
Gideon Baah, Kotoko has struggled to get a permanent and
naturally footed replacement to fill the gap and so my target is
to take the position and move on to win laurels”.
“However, I have also seen that the club has
recruited two others for the same position and so it is going to
be a matter of purely competing for the left-back slot, and I am
happy to say that I love competition and will compete to win”.
“Much as I have my yes fully set on
achieving successes at Kotoko, it much also be emphasized that
our success as a team will hinge purely on our collective
aspiration to succeed as players and also getting the full
support of the fans”.
“Let us all put our shoulders to the wheel
of success for Kotoko and the returns thereof will be enjoyed by
all members of the family,” was his advice to all.
