Let’s avoid petty squabbles – Dr. Sarpong tells Kotoko fans

Dr.
K. K. Sarpong has charged Kotoko supporters to rally behind the
club while avoiding petty squabbles and tendencies that would
set them apart from their core duties as members and fans of the
great Kotoko institution.
The
club chairman said this should be the time for Kotoko supporters
to be united and not do anything to derail the development
targets set by the leadership of the club ahead of the coming
season and the years to come.
“I am sure you are witnesses to the fact
that a lot is being done. This is not the time, and I have said
this in my radio commentary. This is not the time for us to have
a divided house. In unity we stand; when we are divided we are
going to split apart. As we move into the new season, which is
just a few weeks away, we need all the supporters. We need unity
to rally behind the team” said Dr. K. K. Sarpong in an address
to supporters at the inauguration of the three-member committee
to resolve the crisis that has plagued the Ashanti Regional
Circles Council.
It would be recalled that the ARCC was
expected to elect a new chairman in July. However, an attempt to
disqualify one of the two candidates threw the entire Council
into disarray as the aggrieved candidate sought a court
injunction to halt the electioneering process with a new
supporters’ group known as the Warriors also emerging weeks
later.
Dr. K. K. Sarpong pointed out that there was
thus the urgent need for the Board and Management of the club to
intervene to bring peace hence the inauguration of the committee
to resolve the matter. The three-member committee comprises
former Offinso South Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable
Freddy Amponsah, who some years back was the Chairman of the
Powerful Circle 20.
The other members include Lawyer
Marie-Louise Simmons who will be the secretary to the committee
and Kwaku Nsiah Yeboah, a building and road contractor based in
Kumasi. Dr. Sarpong described the composition of the committee,
which has up to October 3, 2011 to submit their recommendations
as “good” trusting that the committee does an excellent work.
“I think we have a wonderful team. It is a
good committee. We want them to report to us by the end of the
month. We have no time to waste. The league starts on the 9th of
next month. I want to make sure by 2nd or 3rd we will make a
pronouncement on the matter” said Dr, Sarpong.
Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Freddy
Amponsah thanked the Kotoko Executive Chairman for the
confidence reposed in the committee. “We thank you for the
opportunity to serve Kotoko once again. Let me say that we are
not going to litigate but rather to resolve problems and we
promise to do a good work” said the former MCE.
