The news of Ahmed Toure having emerged as the PLB/Glo player of the year for the 2010/11 Glo Premier League season has been received with joy and celebration by members of Kotoko’s contingent in Zlatibor, Serbia.

As a matter of fact, it did not take anyone to break the news to the players because throughout the night, most of the players were monitoring the awards ceremony through various Information Technology methods, i.e., Facebook, Twitter and listening to live streaming of the event through the various Ghanaian online radio stations.

The announcement of Ahmed Toure as the best player was received with rapturous shouts of joy and approval from the first and second floors of the Hotel Olimp as though it was a football match and an important goal has been scored.

Some of the players rushed to the room of Toure to congratulate him whilst others attempted to pour water on him as part of the celebration.

However, he was spared the ‘ponding’ because the hotel alleys and the rooms are wall-to-wall floored with an expensive wollen carpet that it would be unwise to pour water on it.

The next day at the breakfast table, the players took turns to congratulate Toure on his award and also share in his joy.
