The determination by the Dr.
K. K Sarpong administration to beef up Team Kotoko for the
coming season and beyond has received a major boost with the
signing of Maxwell Konadu as the new assistant coach of the
club.
The
former Wa All Stars head coach has appended his valuable
signature to a contract document to become the assistant to
Bogdan Korak for the next two years and most importantly, bring
his vast experience on the Ghanaian football scene to bear on
the team.
Announcing the signing to Kotoko Express, Administrative and
Public Affairs Manager, Ben Nti stated that the signing of the
highly experienced Coach who also doubles as the assistant to
Akwasi Appiah at the national under 23 side, The Black Meteors,
has brought great relief to Kotoko.
“Though
Bogdan continues to do his best for the club, it was clear that
his no too deep knowledge of the local terrain most of the times
posed a challenge to him. That is why for almost a year, we
followed the exploits of Coach Maxwell and decided to get him
into Kotoko”.
“Much as
it was not an easy exercise convincing him to leave his position
as a head coach at All Stars to come and assist at Kotoko, I
believe his appending of signature for Kotoko should be a great
relief to us”.
In the
absence of head coach Bogdan Korak who is on holidays in his
home country, Serbia, and the team scheduled to resume training
today Tuesday to prepare
for the finals of the MTN FA Cup finals against Nania FC, Coach
Maxwell will take charge of the preparation of the team at the
Adarko Jarchie training grounds.
The name
Maxwell Konadu is not new to members of the Kotoko family who
are advanced in age and those who have studied the history of
the club from the 1990s on as he was a lethally sharp striker
who commandeered a lot of strength and goal scoring abilities.
Kotoko
Express joins hands with all members of the family to welcome
back home our beloved Maxwell the former player and now coach.
