Bogdan Korak happy, but not satisfied

Despite
having led his charges to achieve a triple feat at Tarkwa, ie,
destroy Mediama FC’s home invincibility, exact vengeance for the
week one loss to them, and finally overtaking Mediama for the
second spot on the 2010/11 Glo Premier League, Serbian trainer,
Bogdan Korak, has told Kotoko Express that he is not satisfied.
He says
he is happy that he has been able to move Kotoko from the
fourteenth position he came to meet to the second position, but
his dissatisfaction sterns from the fact that there was nothing
concrete to show for his efforts.
“Where is
the trophy to show that yes Bogdan Korak has been successful?”
he asked.
“I am
happy today because we are second at the end of the league, but
I tell you, my satisfaction and joy will only be achieved when I
have a trophy to show for my work at Kotoko”.
“Since
the league trophy has already been won by Chelsea, I can only
target the MTN FA Cup which is still up for grabs. It is only
when I have won that trophy that I would be satisfied. Until
that is achieved, it is going to be work, work and work”.
This was
how Coach Korak chose to philosophize about the daunting work he
and his charges have to do ahead of their semi-finals MTN FA Cup
match against a yet to be determined opponent.
As
quickly as he could, he told Kotoko Express that the sweet
victory over Mediama FC would be celebrated for only a short
time.
“We had a
fantastic game against Mediama and I am happy that we have won,
but that is just going to be for a day because I have a bigger
target on my hands that I am not toying with at all”.
“I
therefore want to take this opportunity to thank members of my
technical team for their good job that has brought us o this
very level that we are. I also thank management for their
support and their backing and wants to remind all that the job
is not finished yet. We have the MTN FA Cup match to win and
that’s what we all have to direct our attention on”.
Pressed
on further, he said he approached the Mediama match purely on
tactical grounds with nothing like vengeance on his mind.
According
to him, that was the only way he could take pressure off his
players to enable them fully concentrate on the task ahead of
them.
“Winning
last Sunday’s match was an important task we needed to approach
and win without pressure coming to bear on the players. We
therefore strategized that we enter the match as though it was
the first leg and we needed to win to put fear in the rest of
our opponents”.
“I am
happy that my players responded to the call and went on to play
a good game that gave us the much needed points to take us to
the second position. I am grateful to my players and hope that
they continue with their winning ways to put an end to the
supporter disaffection that we currently have on our hands after
the last two defeats we suffered,” he said.
The match
saw the players giving their all but there was a particular
player he consistently mentioned for commendation for his
impressive response to his call for duty.
“Last
Sunday was my first time of starting Soulama Abdoulaye in a
competitive match and we were all witnesses to the impressive
performance he put up”.
“He stood
tall and showed a lot of maturity in the match by keeping a calm
composure and making the right saves at the right time. I am
happy that he has justified my confidence in him. He needs to do
more of this performance and Kotoko will be safe with the
keepers we have”.
Before
the match, many were the opinion that the soggy nature of the
pitch was going to inform the referees to postpone the match to
a day that would be dry enough for action, but that did not
happen.
Coach
Korak’s team played their hearts out, braved the storm and went
on to win, but the coach believes it was not an important topic
for him to comment on the pitch they played their match on.
“I
believe the PLG/GFA have seen the nature of the pitch we played
on. I therefore reserve my comment and leave them the chance to
concentrate and think about how best they can move Ghana
football forward,” he added.
