Newly signed-on striker,
Sadick Adams, has told Kotoko Express that his intentions and
reasons for opting to play for Kotoko are clear and that is to
add up local success to his international laurels.
He also
says that though his signing for Kotoko is for an initial period
of three months, he has his targets set high that he has come to
join the players of the club to push the fortunes of the club to
a higher level.
According
to the player, he now has his work cut out for him after
watching the Kotoko-Berekum Arsenal match at the Baba Yara
Stadium last Sunday.
“I
observed from the way the team played and the reaction of the
supporters of the fans to the 2-1 victory for Kotoko that they
were not too content with the number of goals scored”.
“Kotoko
supporters I have observed have an insatiable appetite for goals
and so they want the players to convert almost all the scoring
chances that come the player’s way during matches,” he
disclosed.
Much as
the desire and expectations of the supporters is a potential
cause of pressure on the players, the former Etoile du Sahel of
Tunis striker says he was under no pressure from those
expectations.
“The
expectations of the fans are understandable and I associate
myself with anything that we can do as a team to bring joy to
the fans. They are great people and so their joy and
satisfaction should always be our target”.
“That
notwithstanding, I must say that their expectation does not
bring any pressure to bear on me. What it rather does is that it
has become a motivator in the essence that we players love to
play when we have the assurance of a huge support base who will
support you and turn up in their numbers to watch you play”.
On how he
intends to integrate into the team in the shortest time since he
has only three months to play before the end of the season, he
had this to say.
“I have
played with most of the players of Kotoko either at the junior
national team or in our inter-area football matches so I know
their style of play. I also understand that football is an
international language that is spoken with strategies and rules
so whatever the coaches teach us is what we will go onto the
field to deliver”.
Before
opting to play for Kotoko, news were rife of how Berekum
Chelsea, Mediama and other premiership clubs were after him so
what informed his choice of Kotoko over the others?
“Kotoko
made a genuine offer that any player will not turn away from.
Dr. K.K. Sarpong spoke truthfully and passionately with me and I
could see his genuineness and goodwill of being a trustworthy
person, so I chose Kotoko”.
“True to
his words and assurances, Kotoko has taken very good care of me
since my association with them. I am happy with the way I am
being integrated into the family”.
“To all
Kotoko fans, I can only assure you of one thing and that is the
fact that I am a hard worker who is here to compliment the
efforts my colleagues for the betterment of the club. They
should also do their part by praying for the team as together,
there would be no challenge that we cannot surmount,” he
concluded.
