It is true that sportsmen in general and footballers in
particular are fashionable and would always want to be in the
public eye with their trendy looks.
Gone were the playing days of the Malik Jabirs, Opoku Ntis and
the George Kennedys where spotting ‘Bushy hair’ was the
on-thing. The players of today keep changing particularly their
hairdo to suit their taste and mood.
Whilst a player like Edward Affum has cut the Rasta hairdo that
he once wore to a bushy hair and a long beard, others like
Nathaniel Asamoah is styling his hair into dreadlocks whilst
Gershon Akuffu has taken Rasta hairdo to a new level by styling
them into beautiful braids.
However, the new hairdo trend in the team is the Mario Balloteli
hairstyle, popularly called ‘amale’ in Ghana.
For the records, five players: Ahmed Toure, Fatawu Mohamed,
Samad Oppong, Alex Asamoah and Gideon Baah are sporting the ‘amale’.
With fashion fast developing, fans should not be surprised when
in the near future, players start having a ‘Papa Ajasco’ hairdo.
It is a matter of time, but can happen.
