How Supporters
motivated the team for Tamale match

Kotoko supporters in and outside of Ghana are mostly noted for
their huge and unflinching support for the team, but their
untiring ability to continually shower presents and donations on
team whenever the team gets into their areas is legendary.
It was therefore no wonder when the team
travelled to the Northern Regional capital, Tamale, for their 24th
week Glo Premier League match, they were given all sorts of
incentives and presents to boost the players moral for that
match which was cagey in all intents and purposes.
Apparently goaded by Dr. K.K. Sarpong’s
‘support to win’ mantra, Kotoko supporters on the Kumasi –
Tamale route and in Tamale itself lived up to their
responsibilities by first giving the team moral support before
toping it up with their presents.
Before the team got to Techiman in the
Brong Ahafo region for their first stop over to take brunch,
news had gotten to the leadership of Lion Circle 160 in Techiman
of the arrival of the team in their town and so they arranged to
shepherd the team bus through the town to the hotel where the
team had meals.
Before seeing the team off to continue with
their journey up north, they made a generous donation that got
members of the contingent dropping their jaws in surprise.

Led by Honourable Armstrong Frimpong Addo,
the deputy P.R.O of Brong Ahafo NCC, Lion Circle 160 presented
quantities of bread, toilet rolls, sugar, Milo, Milk, Apple
juice, Energy drinks, Biscuits and mineral water totalling in
excess of Gh¢300 in cash.
Other members of the circle who were
present at the donation were Tanko Mohamed, treasurer, Kwabena
Sarkodie, organizer and Mohamed Abu, the porter.
They told the players that the presentation
was their modest contribution and motivation to boost the
confidence and moral of the team for the remaining matches in
the league.
They also asked them to set their eyes on
doing very well by winning the MTN FA cup to be able to play in
this year’s continental competitions.
On behalf of his colleagues, Isaac Amoako
received the items and thanked them for their continual support
to the team.
He also assured fans that the playing body
was very much aware of the enormity of the task ahead of them
and so they were going to do everything in their capacity to
achieve laurels for the club.
In Tamale, the team tactically sneaked into
the hotel at the outskirts of the town, yet the prying eyes and
ears of the circles executives could not be beaten.
Not too long on arrival, a delegation of
the regional circles council paid a visit to welcome the team
and assure them of their safety.
In conformity with the Kotoko convention,
they presented three crates of Energy drinks and three cartons
of mineral water.
Northern Regional circles chairman, Paul
Kofi Asabila, in the company of his vice, Clement Alaria and the
regional porter Yakubu Merrigah, advised the players not to be
afraid of anything as their security had been catered for and
also approach the match with confidence to win for the points
and also the pride of the fans.
The players on their part assured them of
the team’s readiness to make a bigger impact in the league and
were also determined to win the MTN FA Cup.
