Dr. K.K.
Sarpong has told Kotoko supporters that his slogan for the
2010/11 season, ‘Support to win’ remains the key jigsaw in the
success puzzle of the club.
He has
also asked fans to note that their contribution to the club in
terms of attendance at matches and other intrinsic support is
very important and very much appreciated.
His
Special Assistant, Lord Zico Opoku Nti delivered these massages
on behalf of the Executive Chairman at a supporter
reorganization and fund raising rally of Zone 8 of Ashanti
region circles in Obuasi.
According
to the Executive Chairman, it was very important for fans to
recognize that as stakeholders of the club, management will come
and go but if they do not channel their support to the success
of the club, they will only add up to the woes and the litany of
reasons why the club was where they met it.
“It has
been said that when royals refuse to fight, servants abandon the
war. As royals therefore of Kotoko, I urge you to be at the
battlefront with your support. We in management are the servants
and so we need you the royals to come up with your support so
that we shall be empowered to fight for the success of the
club”.
He told
the house of the many good policies that management that has
been rolled out for implementation for the success of the club.
“However,
all these will remain plans unless and until when fans start
attending our matches in their numbers as they used to do so
that we get the required finances to run the good plans that we
have for the club”.
He told
the gathering of their commitment to put Kotoko on a solid
footing on and off the pitch but was also quick to add that much
cannot be achieved without their support.
On the
team, he announced that his management was fully committed to
getting only the best for the club.
“However,
I advice that we cut out the insults we hurl on the players we
have. Much as some performances can be disheartening sometimes,
we only add up to our problems because the insults only go to
confuse the players the more when things are not going right for
them on the field of play”.
“As the
league resumes on Wednesday I invite all of you to gather your
resources and come to support the team as we do battles to bring
honor to ourselves and to our grate King,” he added.
Adding up
to the speech delivered, a former player of the club, George
Kennedy asked the fans to remember the Executive Chairman in
their prayers as “from what I have seen of
Dr. Sarpong, he is God sent”
“we the
supporters can only make him happy and also encourage him to do
even more by showing our loyalty to the course of the club”.
“We need
to be at matches in out tens of thousands so that he gets the
resources to implement policies and programs”.
He also
added his voice to the call for fans to patronize the matches of
the club to cheer the players on to victory and also give the
club resources to operate.
