The
burning desire of the Dr. K.K. Sarpong administration to acquire
properties and build legacies for the club has been switched to
an overdrive by the approval of Otumfuo for work on the
construction of the much talked-about Kotoko Office annex to
commence.
Last
week, Administrative Manager, Ben Nti and FA& International
Relations Manager (FAIRM), Kwame Baah-Nuakoh presented a request
for approval from Otumfuo for the commencement of the project
and that has been granted by the King.
The
dossier that was presented to Otumfuo included all the 3D
architectural drawings that gave the King a vivid presentation
of the structure that would be built on the land space available
at the current club secretariat at Odeneho Kwadaso in Kumasi.
At
present, the upgraded secretariat can boast of four offices and
a boardroom, whilst the general office has been partitioned to
make room for a visitors’ waiting area and two desk offices. Not
forgetting a kitchen and two washroom facilities.
The
office annex when completed will complement the one in use now
with five spacious offices, a multy-seat conference room, a
Kotoko shop, various storage rooms and a large terrace to
provide a good sitting area for visitors to the secretariat. Of
course, not forgetting the six-seat washroom facility.
Per the
drawings, the complex will also provides comfortably parking
space for sixteen saloon cars and one bus.
The
complex will also be adorned with natural vegetations and flora
to functionally blend nature with modernity.
Speaking
on telephone with Kotoko Express, Mr. Baah-Nuakoh explained that
all those projects were being undertaken so that Kotoko will not
be found wanting when FIFA begins to strictly implement the
guidelines they have given to clubs as their future demands.
“In the
very near future, FIFA shall be implementing their demands on
clubs to have standardized offices and effectively functional
administrations so whilst Dr. Sarpong seeks to acquire
properties and also secure legacies for the club, we are also
looking at being ready when the deadline given by FIFA expires”.
On his
part, the Administrative Manager added that all was set in terms
of funding for the first phase of the project.
“Dr.
Sarpong and his administration has worked tirelessly to ensure
that we made Kotoko attractive so as to bring in investors and
sponsors. With the monies that we have accrued from the sponsors
we have so far, we should be able to start the first phase which
will be the completion of the foundation and some block work,”
said the Land Economist Administration Manager.
With
approval given and initial funding secured, all is set for the
sod-cutting ceremony which is expected to be done early next
month when the Executive Chairman, Dr. K.K. Sarpong returns to
Ghana from a business trip.
It would
be recalled that at the assumption of office, Dr. K.K. Sarpong
assured of his commitment to acquire legacies for the club, and
this saw the immediate renovation of the rundown secretariat
that was being used into an eye-catching and technologically
up-to-date functional office.
