After leading Asante Kotoko to beat Hearts
of Oak 2-0 in the week 22 Glo Premier League clash at the Ohene
Djan Sports Stadium last Sunday, Daniel Nii Adjei has told
Kotoko Express that the ultimate aim of the club is to finish
among the top four clubs on the league table.
According to the midfielder, whose fantastic
long-range strike provided the second goal and essentially
nailed Hearts of Oak properly in the coffin, the gap between
Kotoko and league leaders, Berekum Chelsea is wide for Kotoko to
put a worthwhile challenge.
He therefore says their immediate target is
to win their remaining matches and secure a dignified position
on the table.
Kotoko now occupies 3rd position with 34
points – just a point lesser than what second placed Medeama SC
have amassed.
Nii Adjei says Kotoko has a brighter chance
of securing a top 4 place and that is exactly what they would
keep their eyes on.
“The point-gap opened by Chelsea is too
wide. Our focus is on a top four place. That is realistic. We
want to train hard for that” he said in a post match interview.
Nii Adjei continued that Kotoko would as
well train hard for matches in the MTN FA Cup competition
stressing that they would go all out against division one side,
Deportivo FC on Wednesday.
He thanked the followers of the club for their massive support
in Accra. The hard working player who has a knack for scoring
added that such unflinching support would definitely propel the
team to greater heights.
