Berekum Chelsea might be enjoying at the summit of the Glo Premiership log sheet but hard working midfielder, Daniel Nii Adjei, says Kotoko will continue to pursue them till the curtains on the competition is brought down.

“I must admit that Chelsea are favourites for the Premiership title but we will keep fighting hard because anything can happen in the remaining eight games”.

Berekum Chelsea are currently on top of the league table with 47 points followed by Medeama FC and Kotoko with 35 and 34 points respectively.

Daniel Nii Adjei joined Kotoko from Norchip FC in the 2007 football season and has been very influential in the team throughout his four years stint with the fabulous club.

He helped Kotoko to chalk many successes in the 2007/08 football season including the Baba Yara@50 Cup, the SWAG Cup, the President Cup as well as the ultimate Onetouch Premiership trophy.

Quite apart from that, he also helped Kotoko to make a great impact in the 2007/08 CAF Confederation Cup where Kotoko got to the group stage.

Though Nii Adjei describes his stay with Kotoko successful, he is however determined to help the club go high places before he probably leaves the shores of the country one day to pursue his football career in Europe.

“First of all let me express my heartfelt gratitude to Coach Telat Uzum because he brought me to Kotoko. I was a lower division player by then but he reposed some confidence in me and that has brought me this far”

“My stint with the club so far has done me a lot of good despite the challenges I have encountered in some occasions. Apart from the fame I have achieved as a player, I have also managed to win some trophies with the club. I was integral part of the team that won the 2007/08 Onetouch Premiership. This is a big honour to me but I’m still expecting more success in the days ahead”

“For now my topmost priority is African Cup. I want to help Kotoko win a trophy on the continent before I probably bid farewell to the club one day so that my name will also be written in golden letters like Osei Kofi, Ibrahim Sunday, Malik Jabir, Opoku Nti, Ebo Mends, Joe Carr and others who won the 1971 and 1983 African Club Championship for Kotoko” he noted.

He lauded Kotoko’s performance in the second round and urged his colleagues to keep the spirit among them in order to end the competition in grand style.

Commenting on the remaining eight games against King Faisal, R.T.U, Berekum Arsenal, Heart of Lions, Ashgold, Mighty Jets, Liberty and Medeama SC, the enterprising midfielder said they have attached much importance to these games. He added that there would be no favour or mercy for any of the teams regardless of their position on the log.

“We really mean business at this stage. King Faisal for instance initiated our problems in the first round after defeating us in the 8th week fixture and we will also deal with them drastically without any favour”.

Asked how he felt after leading the Porcupine Warriors to that historic victory over their bitterest rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak at the Ohene Djan Stadium where he crowned his effort with a spectacular goal which sealed the deal for Kotoko, Nii Adjei revealed that it was one of the happiest days in his life.

“It was one particular game I would forever remember not because of the victory per sey but because of the wonderful display of soccer we exhibited on the day” he noted urging their opponents should give credit to Kotoko and stop finding excuses for themselves.

Having scored six goals in the 2008/09 football season and seven goals to emerge as Kotoko top scorer last season together with Edward Affum, Nii Adjei is hoping to score more this season.

He has so far scored five goals in the league and believes the subsequent matches will offer him the opportunity to add more to his credit.

In his response to how he sees Kotoko chances in the ongoing MTN FA Cup after eliminating Danbort FC and Deportivo FC, Nii Adjei says they will do everything possible to win the trophy to serve as consolation for their management and supporters.

“Our management and supporters have done a great job this season so we have to win this particular trophy to show appreciation to their effort” he said.

While he commended Coach Goran Stevanovic and his Black Stars team for their sterling performance in the CAN 2012 qualifier and International friendly against Congo and England, he also declared his preparedness to fight for a place in the team.
