Coach Bogdan Korak has told Kotoko Express
that he is sure his side would emerge victorious in Sunday’s
titanic clash against rivals Hearts of Oak at the Ohene Djan
Sports Stadium.
The Kotoko coach says his team’s 3:0 win
over defending league champions Aduana Stars last Sunday did not
come as a surprise to him because the team worked for it and
that a much better performance in Accra this weekend would
definitely give them another desired result.
He says he has watched tapes of some Hearts
of Oak’s matches and knows exactly what to do to plot their
defeat.
“They are good but we will be there to beat
them. I have seen them and everything is okay for me. I am sure
Kotoko will win because we know what to do” said Bogdan Korak.
The Kotoko trainer expressed deep
satisfaction with the result chalked by his team against Aduana
Stars but quickly added that there is more work to be done at
the training ground.
“We did well to score but we still have more
work to do” said Korak.
The Serbian trainer admitted though that not
everything was right with Kotoko’s performance against Aduana
Stars.
“They had their minds on the Hearts game.
That is why they could not perform well in the first half. We
came back strongly in the second half and everything was right.
This week, we have more work to do before going to Accra. We
will go to Accra to win” the coach stated.
Coach Bogdan Korak continued that he has
identified some weaknesses in the performance of his players and
promising that he would work on those weaknesses immediately.
Against Aduana, Kotoko’s performance was
fraught with mistakes particularly in defence and attack. The
pair of Awal Mohammed and Henry Ohene Brenya did not work to
expectation.
There was also poor coordination between the
two as they mostly lost the ground battles but luckily had
goalkeeper Isaac Amoako coming in to save some of the dangerous
situations.
That aside, the attack was also not
efficient. The support from midfield was not there, leaving the
pair of Alex Asamoah and Nathaniel Asamoah less effective in the
game.
At the time that Hearts of Oak themselves
are rising from their slumber, Kotoko definitely have to do
their home work well to have any real chance of making things
difficult for their opponents in Sunday’s big game. Any more
mistakes in this clash could be costly.
