Information available to Kotoko Express
indicates that all is set for the Brong Ahafo Regional Circles
(BARCC) Council to host the Annual National Circles Council
(NCC)’s Congress.
The Congress, which is the biggest event on
the calendar of the official umbrella group of Kotoko supporters
is slated for Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the conference hall of
the Sunyani Polytechnic.
Briefing Kotoko Express on Wednesday,
spokesman for the NCC, Nana Kwame Dankwa said the grounds have
been adequately prepared for the big event. He said the tireless
chairman of the BARCC, Oppong Brenya and his executives have
worked assiduously to ensure that the Congress takes off and end
smoothly.
“We have been in constant touch with our
people in the region. I can tell you that they have done well.
They have done a great work. We will be moving to Sunyani this
weekend to think with the Circles and find out what better roles
we can play to help the progress and development of our dear
club,” Nana Kwame stated.
He explained the rationale behind choosing
Sunyani as the venue. “All along we have had our Congresses in
Kumasi. However, we have started a rotational system this time,
which will ensure that other Regional Councils get the chance of
hosting that big event. I commend the Brong Ahafo Regional
Council for their efforts. We hope to have a successful
Congress”.
Nana Kwame disclosed that the event would
start at 10am prompt. Nearly 600 delegates – 2 each from the 250
Circles and Kotoko supporters’ Unions including other Kotoko
fans across the country would converge at the Sunyani
Polytechnic for the program.
An amount of GH¢5 is to be paid by every
Circle as Congress fee with the annual dues pegged at GH¢12.
Among the high powered dignitaries invited
to the occasion are the Wenchimanhene, Nana Abrefa Nketia V and
Yamfomanhene, Nana Ansah Baah. The Brong Ahafo Regional
Minister, Honourable Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo; the Executive Board
Chairman of Kotoko, Dr. K. K. Sarpong and the Brong Ahafo
Regional Football Association Chairman, Augustine Asante have
also been invited.
Also expected to be at the Congress are
National Officers of the Circles Council and the chairmen of the
10 Regional Circles Councils.
According to Nana Kwame, members and leaders
of the Brong Ahafo region, Kotoko supporters in the Brong Ahafo
Regional and the media are free to attend the program.
Kotoko management members and
representatives of the playing body and the technical team have
as well been invited to the occasion.
The Congress would be in two sessions. The
first session would focus primarily on speeches before the main
issues are tackled during the second session. The BARCC would
give the welcome address to be followed by the keynote message
to be delivered by NCC Chairman, Bernard Akwasi Xiel.
The litany of issues and events likely to
dominate the second session include the provision of identity
cards for all members, election of local and regional circles
executives and the organisation of the Circles football gala.
Other issues expected to engage the
attention of Congress are the NCC’s finances and the planned NCC
nationwide tour. There would in addition be the reading of
regional reports, deliberations on the Kotoko-MTN Mobile Money
registration.
The relationship between Kotoko and the
media would also be discussed by Congress. To help Circle
members secure their membership cards and further take the
registration of members a notch higher, a media and arts company
– Rene Arts have been tasked to be at the Congress venue to
produce cards for members at the cost of GH¢6.
Delegates are to come with their valid
national ID cards for the MTN Mobile Money registration.
