Goalkeepers Trainer, Joseph Carr has dived
to the defence of his charges, Isaac Amoako, who has come under
supporters’ and media attack after conceding what has been
described by some fans as an unfortunate goal in Wednesday’s
week 20, Glo Premier League match against New Edubease United at
Bekwai.
Kotoko took the lead in the 25th minute
through Alex Asamoah but Ibrahim Moro equalized five minutes
later, with a splendid long shot which many expected the Kotoko
goaltender to save, given the long distance from which the shot
was fired.
Most of the supporters were angry at the
goalkeeper’s performance. Isaac Amoako himself looked
disappointed after the goal.
In a post match interview, Joseph Carr
admitted that his lad could have done better in the situation.
He was however quick to add that there was no need lambasting
the goalie especially when he has been spoken to.
Joe Carr added that Amoako’s ‘no show’ in
Sudan during Ghana’s participation in the CHAN tournament has
affected him.
“You know that he was out of camp for
sometime because of the CHAN tournament. Even there, he was not
active. We have been working seriously on him since he came. We
believe things will be fine soon. We know him, we know he is
good. So people should not worry,” said Joseph Carr who
disclosed that Burkinabe goalie, Soulama Abdoulaye cannot
feature for the club until his work permit, which is currently
being renewed has been granted.
