Kotoko’s Assistant Coach Prince Acheampong
alias Sabuto has denied reports that there was a player revolt
during and after last Sunday’s match against Wa All Stars.
In that match, Coach Bogdan Korak ordered
David Ofei off the pitch after 85 minutes of action.
According to Coach Sabuto, some of the
players naturally may not have been happy with developments in
the match but their unhappiness could not be linked to a
rebellion or a revolt.
“I also heard that story but it is not true.
Many interpretations were given to what happened but they are
all not true”.
“I do not want to recount everything because
we have put everything behind us. We have been training. The
concentration has been on our next game, which is the league
assignment against New Edubease FC”.
It has been confirmed that the Serbian
trainer apologized to his assistant who he also had a fracas
with in the said match.
Prince Acheampong confirmed that as well but
preferred not to talk about it saying, “We are all looking
ahead; the players, the technical team and management”.
He disclosed that morale in camp is very
high especially after the return of three of the team’s players
who were with the local Black Stars for the CHAN competition in
Sudan.
“The three players are back to the training
ground. Amoako, Sabato and Awal; they have reported for training
and in fact they have been training” added Coach Sabuto.
He indicated that the players are in high
spirit and Coach Bogdan Korak have as well been relating well
them, sharing jokes and working seriously ahead of the
resumption of the league next Wednesday.
Coach Sabuto has also advised the supporters to rally behind the
team and also be at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when the
Porcupine Warriors play their matches.
