The avowed desire
and aim to build a permanent and befitting office complex for
the club by the Dr. K. K Sarpong administration received a big
boost last week with the signing of a sponsorship agreement with
International Energy Insurance.
The Gh˘ 225,000
sponsorship agreement comes with several dimensional packages,
but the one that impacts directly on the office complex is the
cash component of the arrangement.
Though details
were not given, the Executive Chairman, Dr. K. K. Sarpong in his
speech at the function spoke of what they intended to do to get
Kotoko a befitting secretariat.
“In addition,
there will be some free cash that we can use and I have
indicated to them that we intend to commence our office annex
with the cash component that they are donating..”
He announced that
construction work will begin “… in a few months time because
their money will give us the foundation to commence the office
project”.
This statement
was received with a spontaneous rapturous applause from the
people gathered.
Per the enquiry
of Kotoko Express and the drawings of the project seen, the new
structure when completed will house the offices of the Executive
Chairman and all the functional managers and technical team
members of the club.
It will also have
a lager and spacious conference room that would be equipped with
all the modern gadgets of conferencing to expedite meetings of
the club.
With two more
sponsors pencilled to be signed on board soon, it is expected
that more resources would be mobilized to give the project an
accelerated progress.
Dr. K. K Sarpong,
since the inception of his administration has used every
opportunity he gets to speak about how he intends to leave
physical and landmark legacies for the club.
He in one of his
speeches at Takoradi recounted how sad he was when he came to
office to realize that the only assets that the club could boast
of were the players, team busses, and training balls and
jerseys.
He has therefore
since then been sourcing for funds to start the legacy projects
for the club.
