Kotoko’s Executive Board Chairman, Dr. K. K.
Sarpong has disclosed that the construction of a players’
village to be comprised of fully furnished two-bedroom
flats for each player of the club would start next year.
He also announced that the construction of
changing rooms at the Adako Jachie training ground would get
underway this year.
Dr. K. K. Sarpong made these disclosures at
the signing of the two-and-half season sponsorship agreement
with telecommunications giants
MTN.
“Today is a significant day…our reunion with
MTN is Sankofa special. The sponsorship is worth Gh¢ 2.850m
(¢28.5billion cedis) and we have to be grateful to MTN”.
“The deal is good because among other great
things, we have agreed on permanent monuments for example the
construction of changing rooms at the training pitch which will
start this year and that of the players’ village, for 2012,” Dr.
K. K. Sarpong said this to attract a hefty applause from the
gathering.
Dr. Sarpong observed that the marriage
between Kotoko and MTN is to foster living standards and not
entirely about giving money to the club.
He continued that the sponsorship deal is
extremely good and therefore charged Kotoko fans to switch over
from whatever network they are using presently to MTN to enable
them make some more money for the club.
He also talked about MTN’s Mobile Money,
which the company has been running in partnership with Fidelity
Bank.

Marketing Officer of MTN, on his part described the reunion as
natural saying that as a great brand, they at MTN have eyes for
leaders.
“Kotoko and MTN share great values, and
these are values of the can-do spirit,” he said.
He added that the sponsorship formed part of
MTN’s desire to champion the passion of their customers and the
people they serve.
“This support is to ensure that our
customers get both the best from MTN and their passion which is
football”.
A representative of the Asantehene, Oheneba
Aduse-Poku, the Akyempenhene, praised the Kotoko leadership and
the telecommunications giants for their hard work and further
charged the team to do their best to justify the huge financial
investment made by Dr. K. K. Sarpong and his Board. Besides
Board Members Alhaji Lamini and Madam Agnes Osei, old and
present members of management were all present.
