Kotoko’s Executive Board Chairman, Dr. K. K. Sarpong has disclosed that the construction of a players’ village to be comprised of  fully furnished two-bedroom flats for each player of the club would start next year.

He also announced that the construction of changing rooms at the Adako Jachie training ground would get underway this year.

Dr. K. K. Sarpong made these disclosures at the signing of the two-and-half season sponsorship agreement with telecommunications giants MTN.

“Today is a significant day…our reunion with MTN is Sankofa special. The sponsorship is worth Gh¢ 2.850m (¢28.5billion cedis) and we have to be grateful to MTN”.

“The deal is good because among other great things, we have agreed on permanent monuments for example the construction of changing rooms at the training pitch which will start this year and that of the players’ village, for 2012,” Dr. K. K. Sarpong said this to attract a hefty applause from the gathering.

Dr. Sarpong observed that the marriage between Kotoko and MTN is to foster living standards and not entirely about giving money to the club.

He continued that the sponsorship deal is extremely good and therefore charged Kotoko fans to switch over from whatever network they are using presently to MTN to enable them make some more money for the club.

He also talked about MTN’s Mobile Money, which the company has been running in partnership with Fidelity Bank.

Clement Asante, the Acting Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, on his part described the reunion as natural saying that as a great brand, they at MTN have eyes for leaders.

“Kotoko and MTN share great values, and these are values of the can-do spirit,” he said.

He added that the sponsorship formed part of MTN’s desire to champion the passion of their customers and the people they serve.

“This support is to ensure that our customers get both the best from MTN and their passion which is football”.

A representative of the Asantehene, Oheneba Aduse-Poku, the Akyempenhene, praised the Kotoko leadership and the telecommunications giants for their hard work and further charged the team to do their best to justify the huge financial investment made by Dr. K. K. Sarpong and his Board. Besides Board Members Alhaji Lamini and Madam Agnes Osei, old and present members of management were all present.
