Players of Kotoko
who are preparing for their first match on Sunday in the
re-introduced MTN FA Cup have been charged on by their head
coach to toughen up their psyche because any mistake to
underrate their lower division opponents would be costly.
Coach Korak made
these admonitions last Wednesday at training in preparation for
Sunday’s match.
They have also
been asked to inform the technical team of any reasons that in
their estimation would not allow them to be able to deliver at
full capacity for the club for immediate action to be taken.
“I want all such
problems to be reported for action to be taken because any one
who hides an injury to make the team for us to realize in the
game later would not be seen kindly at all”.
Bogdan Korak
speaking through his interpreter, Popovic also asked the players
to see the match as not going to be a walk over for special
reasons.
“Playing a lower
division club is probably difficult than a cup final match
because whilst defeating them will be no big news, they have
everything to gain and enjoy if they are able to secure a draw
with us”.
“A lower division
side playing against Kotoko is a big and important match for
them that they would not for any reason like to lose”.
“They would want
to do all they could to frustrate you and by so doing attract
media attention on themselves. We cannot and must not give them
the chance to gain that”.
The Serbian
trainer who is using the break in the Ghanaian league because of
the CHAN tournament to be staged in
Sudan
in February, to prepare his team into top gear has had to use
every opportunity not to toy with the FA Cup.
“As I have been
made to understand, we can only get the chance to play in a
continental competition by either winning the league or the FA
Cup”.
“We are therefore
going to launch a powerful attack on the tournament and the
league and hope that we do whatever it takes to book a ticket
for the continental competition”.
With the
adrenaline of the players pushed up to competition level,
Danbort F.C are surely going to taste the venom of the
rejuvenated Kotoko side.
