Kotoko Coach Bogdan Korak says his team would soon be in the top
ranks of 2010/2011 Glo Premier League if they continue playing
well like he witnessed last Wednesday at the Baba Yara Sports
Stadium against B. A. Stars.
The coach said the 3-1 result chalked in
that game made him extremely happy because his team exhibited
quite a good performance which gives him the confidence that
with little time and more hard work, the Porcupine Warriors
would occupy a better place on the league ladder.
Samed Oppong, Michael Akuffu and Awal
Mohammed scored all three goals for Kotoko but the visitors were
first to open the score sheet through Prince Atakora Gyimah in
the first minute of the game.
They successfully clawed back and the win
has pushed them one step up the table from 7th to 6th position.
With the points-difference between the teams on the table very
close, Coach Bogdan Korak argued that Kotoko would focus on
rising from their current position to a much better pegging when
the league resumes in the first week of March.
“I am very happy about the result” said the
51-year-old tactician through his interpreter K. K. Ayeh Popovic.
“It is the happiest moment for me. The team
is gradually coming up. We will be maintaining our form to come
to the next step after the break,” said Korak.
Presently, Berekum Chelsea has taken a
commanding lead with 41 points. The second placed team, Aduana
Stars are on 31 points followed by Edubiase FC 29 points, Heart
of Lions 28 points before Kotoko who have bagged 27 points.
Coach Korak indicated that his players are
getting into the right shape. He made specific mention of Ahmed
Toure, saying that with his strength, he could offer more than
he has done in the last two matches he has featured him.
The Kotoko trainer further explained that
Ahmed Toure’s heel injury from which is progressively recovering
affected his performance against B. A. Stars but he was quick to
add that Toure’s condition as well as that of other players
would change by the time the league resumes.
Coach Bogdan Korak also stated that the
six-break in the competition would give him and his team
especially Slobodan Gnjidic ample time to observe the players
and work on their physique.
“I am going to work with my colleague. We
have to make the team strong during the break and when the
league bounces back, we can expect good results” ended the
Serbian trainer.
