Kotoko team
doctor Kwaku Boateng has disclosed that Ofosu Appiah, Edward
Afum, John Kuffour and Albert Bruce would soon return to action
as they have restarted training after weeks of inaction mainly
due to ill health.
The doctor
said the current situation in camp in terms of players’ health
is good and that everything would be done to ensure the good
health of every player.
According to
the hard working team doctor, Ofosu Appiah who was out of
training for nearly two weeks suffered an upper respiratory
tract infection and gastro enteritis as a result of the cold
weather and was expected to resume training on Wednesday.
He revealed
that Albert Bruce for instance is in very good condition, having
played last Sunday in the reserves league fixture between All
Stars and Kotoko which the Young Porcupines lost by a lone goal.
“Bruce had a
problem with his ankle whilst on a Black Satellites assignment.
The short break in the league helped him to recover fast”
“He has been
training and you will recall that he even played in the U-20
match in Wa”. For John Kuffour, Dr. Boateng says he had a
“re-current knee problem”.
John Kuffour
was on a two-week-medication. “We will have to watch his
recovery and fitness level before he will be made to join the
senior side” he told this paper.
On Edward
Afum, the team doctor said the striker complained of severe
waist pains after the first round Glo Premier League match
against All Stars in Kumasi.
X-ray
examinations showed that Afum really had a problem and was
therefore put on medication. Afum is expected to start training
this week at the gym.
