Circles start
donating towards the 2010 season
David Kyei
The 2010 pre-season road show has
kicked started in earnest and as always and very characteristic
of Kotoko supporters, they have started showing their love by
donating in diverse ways to the club and the playing team.
Days after the Adako Jarchie
training facility was opened, members of Circle 127 of Kwamo
quickly rose to the responsibilities by donating sun-shading
facility for the comfort of the team and dignitaries who visit
them at training.
Led by their chairman, Osei Kofi
Sambil, the Kwamo based circle presented a two-room canopy set
and twenty pieces of plastic chairs all valued at GH˘650 to the
club.

Receiving the items on behalf of
the team, board member, Hon. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, thanked the
circle for their thoughtfulness and described their action as an
example worthy of emulation by other members of the Kotoko
family.
He assured them that all the
donation and contributions made by supporters and well wishers
would be taken good care of and put to proper use.
“However, I also would want you to
know that though your hopes of a better Kotoko are a good one, I
urge you to have them in moderation so as not to put too much
pressure on the players and their technical handlers”.
“The Executive Board has promised
to restructure Kotoko and build the team in a solid way that as
soon as we hit our peak, we all be happy and content with the
work done”
“Ask your friends and colleagues
who went on leave in their support of the club not assume duty
by turning up massively at the training grounds and especially
during matches, because they cannot afford to miss the beautiful
football and the class act performance that the team would be
churning out,” the former Ashanti Regional Minister encouraged.
As a divine approval for the
donation of the canopy, Heavens opened up to give a downpour
some ten minutes after the presentation.
The kindness of supporters towards
their beloved club did not end there as in a related development
members of the Central Regional Circles’ Council having heard of
the gesture of their Kwamo colleagues decided not to be beaten
in the race of being kind to Kotoko.
On hearing the news of the teams
appearance in their region to play a pre-season match against
the ‘Abotoa- Abontoa’ boys, Ebusua Dwarfs at the Robert Mensah
Stadium, the executives of the council ensured that the team had
a smooth ride into the region.
Having led the contingent to check
into their rooms and settled well into the University of Cape
Coast environment, they left for their respective homes with a
promise to deliver their widows’ mite the next day.
True to their promise, they
returned on match day, Sunday morning with an assortment of
drinks and water for the team.
They presented two crates of
energy boosting drinks, two cartons of mineral water and two
packs of sachet water.

The Central Regional chairman,
Kwabena Dankwah urged the players not to loot at the quantum of
the donation but the heart and intention behind it, and
reciprocate their goodwill by churning out good performance and
securing victories for them.
The council has also promised to
be a stronger pillow of support for the team in the coming
season “and more especially when you shall be coming to the
Central Region to play Dwarfs,” the Chairman assured.
On behalf of the club, board
member, Alhaji Bamed, who arrived at the camp early to
fraternize with the players before they trot onto the field to
do battle, thanked the circles’ council for their support and
urged them to continue to play the backbone role of the club.
On his part, the Technical
Manager, Ebo Mends, commended the council and suggested that all
regional circles also rekindle their activities as he intends
bring the team to their doorsteps through the regional tours
that he would be taking the on.
Members of the Central Regional
council present at the presentation were Vice chairman, Mr.
Botwey of Karlefornia Phones Ltd, Ms Hanna Bennin (Secretary),
Jahrhule (Organizer), Kwaku Koranteng and Kwaku Nkrumah. |
