Let
us begin anew, Dr. K. K Sarpong tells secretariat staff
David Kyei, Kumasi
Staff of Kotoko have been asked to
develop the attitude of hard work and eschew laziness in
whatever they are doing for the club; because that is the only
way they would be able to fit into the new Kotoko setup.
They have also been charged to
explore avenues to add value to themselves and through it make
their services more professional and satisfactory.
These admonitions were made at the
first of the weekly staff meetings that have been introduced by
the Executive Board Chairman as part of his strategic plans to
transform the image of the club for the better.
According to the Executive
Chairman, it was important for him to introduce his staff to his
management style and philosophy “so that together, we can have a
wonderful working environment”.
“For starters, I want to assure
you that Kotoko is going to take good care of you. However, you
will only be able to enjoy the goodies that the club is going to
bring your way when you work hard”.
These goodies, the chairman says
would only be provided when there is an availability of funds.
“We in management and the board
are going to work hard to bring in sponsors and financiers,
however, I want to task you all as fundraisers of the club”.
“For your information, every staff
who raises funds for the club would be given a cool 10%
commission on whatever amount he or she raises. I therefore urge
you to take advantage of the high commission to make some more
money for yourselves,” he challenged the staff.
With that challenge, he also
encouraged them to exhibit a new working attitude:
“I am aware of the working
environment that you have endured for this while. It is time for
us to forget about the worries of the past and concentrate on
the future. Let us all begin anew by chatting a new course”.
To begin anew, the chairman
advised the staff to be mindful of the way they carry themselves
about in their private and public appearances.
“As staff of Kotoko, you are all
one way or the other the public relations barometer of the club.
Whatever you do or say wrongly would be used to judge the club.
Be worthy ambassadors of the club”.
In a far departure from time past,
Dr. K. K Sarpong had a good message for the members of staff who
have served the club for long.
“While we prepare to give each of
you contracts and appointments, those of you who have served the
club for a many years and think that they deserved to retire
should freely tell me, so that we arrange a befitting package as
a send off”.
“We are in an new era and so every
staff should feel free and enjoy his work with the new look, new
attitude Kotoko secretariat”.
After the meeting, the staff was
hosted to a sumptuous dinner in the courtyard of the chairman’s
residence. |
