As they prepare for the May 9
memorial match against rival club Hearts of Oak this Sunday at
the Ohene Sports Stadium, one of the key players in Asante
Kotoko’s youth side, Benjamin Kwadwo Poku says this weekend’s
clash comes as their biggest match so far.
“For us, it is a big opportunity.
We were not expecting it. We have been training and playing
matches here but to be called to face Hearts in the May 9
memorial match is a big honour” said the youngster.
“We will storm Accra with
confidence and return home triumphant,” he added.
Also known as, Kwadwo Poku Junior,
the striker Wednesday says he and his colleagues are in great
shape.
Benjamin Kwadwo Poku demonstrated
how well he understands the rivalry between the two biggest
clubs in the country when asked whether they would not be under
pressure to win given the fact that their senior colleagues have
this season been beaten on two occasions to Hearts of Oak.
“That does not matter. There have
been times that Kotoko also dominated Hearts. We are not under
any pressure. We are ready for the match. We will play
confidently to win”.
He also dismissed suggestions that
they could feel ‘intimidated’ at the Ohene Sports Stadium where
they as a team have never played.
“It is wrong for anybody to think
that we cannot play there as a team. We are footballers. Where
we play does not matter. We know the Ohene Djan Stadium. We will
play and win on Sunday” said the young goal poacher. |
