Edward Affum expects Etoile recall

By: Jerome Otchere

29-04-2010, 23:16

Barely one week after returning from his trials with Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel, Edward Affum says he is expecting the North African club to recall him and further contact the leadership of Kotoko for negotiations which will lead to his permanent engagement to Etoile.

Edward Affum left the shores of Ghana for Tunisia for a one-week long trial two weeks ago.

Even though the coach upon whose advice he was invited was sacked shortly before his two-match trial, he is reportedly to have performed well as he scored two goals in the two test matches he played.

Speaking to Kotoko Express after his first training since returning from the North African region, Affum says he was delighted with the experience in Tunisia.

Even though the trials was for a short period, the striker says the trial opened his eyes to many things about the game, the most important of which he stated is to redouble his efforts at training and also improve his performance.

He disclosed that the new coach of Etoile under whose instruction he was tested was pleased with his performance and even requested that he stayed a week longer but that could however not materialize.

However, the club assured him that they would contact Kotoko management in due course for serious discussions.

“I am happy to be back. I played only two games there. They were pleased with my form. They even wanted me to spend one more week but I had to return. I am back to my base. I am however looking forward to another call from them because I believe it would be a good experience to continue my career there”

Affum gave thanks to all who prayed for him during his short stay in Tunisia and said he would need more of such support back home and in his future endeavours.

The goal poacher who has scored five goals for Kotoko this season has been training with his colleagues throughout the week and could be part of the team that would play league leaders Ashantigold on Sunday.

emad mouteb is going to leave and flavio already left

Yaw Amoah,
Kotoko management must bow their heads in shame if this mass exodus of players is to continue. Kotoko has been reduced to nothing but buy and hold players and resell them later for profit. Do you call this a team with a mission? it's indeed a shame if this team has an agenda to SUCCEED. I hate to suggest this but if I were to be in Ghana, I'll organize Kotoko fans to boycott matches until management finds other ways of generating revenue instead of selling players. Also, Kotoko must stop wasting hard to come by money on "Juju" because games are won on the field and not at fetish shrines and Mallams dungeons.

THIS IS SAD!!!
Kotoko has virtually been reduced to a transit team for players who want to play for other Africa clubs. What a shame!!!
