Faisal Happy With Lone Goal

20th Mar 2010

King Faisal beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko 1-0 in the 23rd Week Glo Premier League match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

Frank Acheampong scored the 12th minute goal in a defensive blunder against the run of play, which sealed the win for Faisal.

Kotoko started the match on a good note and nearly took the lead in the first minute of the game but wasted chances. Though Kotoko exerted continuous pressure on Faisal, who was playing at home, lack of strikers up front caused Kotoko's defeat with Samad Oppong, Edward Affum and Stephen Manu wasting chances upon chances. Faisal took over in a counter in the 12th minute and scored through Acheampong, who shot past Prince Amoako with the defence of Kotoko broken with a perfect pass from Prince Arkoh.

Kotoko accepted the challenge and made series of attempts at goal but they could not translate their set pieces to level up. In the second session, Faisal nearly increased the tally in the 46th minute but Enoch Ebo Ando squandered the chance.

Asante Kotoko made two changes with Francis Akwaffo and Kabiru Imoro coming on for Samad Oppong and Edward Affum in the 47th and 66th minutes respectively.

This helped Kotoko greatly in the attack but Faisal, who had packed its defence, was too strong to beat. Kotoko laid siege incessantly putting the defence of Faisal under pressure, but could not score, they nearly equalized in the 82nd minute but Stephen Manu shot wide in a goal mouth melee.

This defeat is painful especially to supporters but I was not surprised. Anybody who knows the lifestyle of most Kotoko players would begin to understand the way they perform on the field. Theres nothing like discipline anymore. Most of them engage in womanizing and alcoholism. Thatis why they lack creativity, concentration and fitness. Most of them got tired before getting to the gola area of King Fiasal hence to release the ball for the needed rest they shot feebly or recklessly at goal. They really don't care about the results and it impact on the supporters. Kudos to King Fiasal. Am not a prophet of doom but I can assure supporters that they must prepare for the worse. Matches with Ashgold .Real Tamale, Wise, Liberty etc would not yield any better results. My rating for this match is two over ten. Kotoko players are really not fit for the job they are doing. Supporters must visit drinking spots especially in Tema and Kumasi for confirmation of this write up.

i think from management to the playing body everybody should be sacked. The players don't care about the disappointments and hurt we fans are going thru. how can u take alcohol and womanize and still perform. The answer is never. I like paa kwesi but the indiscipline level is too much .look at samuel affum. of hearts, with hardwork and perseverance he has become a torn in the flesh of teams including kotoko.

If management think some players don't deserve to wear the red shirt, please show them the exit. You should always remember, kotoko is 'WO KUM APEM A, APEM BEBA'. There are some players some where who are yearning for the door to be opened for them.

If indiscipline is ruining the team then look at the coach again. If he has lost the dressing room then he should not be there, period. There are two best coaches in the business of club football: Sir Alex Ferguson and 'Special' Jose Morihno. They have acheived this by just one trademark: discipline in the team.
