Amoako calls for massive support on Sunday
Story by: Jerome Otchere
Highly religious Asante Kotoko
goalkeeper, Isaac Amoako has called on the teeming followers of
the club to turn up in huge numbers when the Porcupine Warriors
host arch rivals Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium
this Sunday.
The goalkeeper said the prayers
and support of the loyal Kotoko supporters would go a long way
to guide the team to triumph.
He however did not lose sight of
who the key actors of the game also commented on the need for
the supporters to refrain from coming out with massive
predictions.
“We are those who will be on the
field of play. We will be in action. Our attitude and
seriousness or hard work will bring the victory. We however need
the prayers and support of our supporters” he said.
“The predictions do not help much.
The supporters are free to say what they want. We know they will
predict on radio and in their normal conversations on the match
but they must not create too much pressure or raise their
expectations too high,” he advised.
The performance of Kotoko has not
been particularly impressive this season but a likely win for
the Porcupine Warriors will rekindle the spirit of the team and
further propel them to greater heights in the competition.
Amoako agreed with that assertion
and confirmed that the fervent prayer of both the technical
bench and the players is to see the team overcoming the Hearts
of Oak hurdle.
“We know what beating Hearts of
Oak will do for us and our loyal followers. Members of the
technical team have spoken to us and we are leaving no stone
unturned to emerge victorious”.
In the past few weeks, Kotoko has
won a couple of matches but have also faltered especially in
matches that many thought they would have comfortably won. Isaac
Amoako touched on that disturbing development with pessimism.
“It is never our wish to win
today, draw tomorrow and lose the next time. We want to be
consistent. Sometimes we just do not get the result we want
though we work hard. People should not look at the bad times and
think that things will be the same. We will do better, no matter
what! I am confident and my colleagues will tell you the same
thing”. |
