Isaac Owusu starts
training this week
Barring any last minute hitch,
stalwart defender and new signing, Isaac Owusu, will start
training this week, team doctor Kwaku Boateng has announced.
The rugged centre back signed a
three year contract with Kumasi Asante Kotoko almost a month
back but could not train with the team as a result a foot
injury.
Dr. Boateng after examining the
player recommended that he stayed off the pitch until he was
completely fit for training. Management and the technical team
complied with the medical directive and now the path is almost
cleared for the defender to report at the Ridge Park.
Kwadwo Poku yet to
recover fully
Checks have revealed that striker
Kwadwo Poku is not in good condition to play.
The player has however been doing light work at
the
Ridge Park as
recommended by the team doctor.
"I have started light training and I do not
think
I am
in
the right
condition to feature in a match"
"This is a knee problem; it is quite a complicated
condition so I have to exercise
patience. I need time to be fully fit" the player added.
When contacted Dr. Kwaku Boateng confirmed that
Kwadwo Poku is still being observed and that he would need more
time before
resuming serious training.
Louis
Quainoo out with ankle injury
Right back Louis Quainoo will not
be able to feature for Kotoko after pulling out of training last
week due to an ankle injury.
Physiotherapist, Omono Asamoah confirmed this
and
says the player would be out for at
least ten
days.
Louis Quainoo, who in the past few weeks incurred
the displeasure of a number of supporters for his seemingly
unimpressive performance in two of the Top 4 matches,
however says
he was looking forward to recovering soon to silence
his critics.
He has
pleaded with the fans to be patient
with him. “I am determined to
rediscover my old form and I would want all Kotoko supporters to
have confidence in all the players” he said.
It would be recalled that Louis Quainoo won the
admiration of many Kotoko fans
last season when he aptly showed
his versatility, featuring brilliantly both as a lateral
defender and midfielder.
Godfred, Anokye, Oduro doing well
Experienced and dedicated Skipper, Godfred
Yeboah; the evergreen midfielder, Stephen Oduro as well as
the young and intelligent centre back, Prince Anokye
are steadily recovering from injury and
ill-health conditions that have kept them away from training
sessions for
over a week now.
Godfred Yeboah has a foot injury and in his case,
X-ray checks indicate
that there was no harm to the bone.
He needs more rest
to fully recuperate. Stephen Oduro
is also doing well and is confident that he will be fine soon.
Prince Anokye who has been
recovering from malaria was present at Friday’s training session
but did not go the full length of the training time. |
